Synopsis
Time passes like flowing water. Not returning for three years, living abroad for fifteen years, what is the unit for alienation? The saxophone at the intersection 11 years ago, the Korean music on the street four years ago, the flight broadcasts after the epidemic, the voices of family members, the days and nights when Taipei and Hong Kong were at a standstill, some moments linger in my mind.
Director biography
Born in Hong Kong and based in Taipei, Chan Ki Yan holds an MFA in Filmmaking from the Taipei National University of the Arts, where she specialized in directing. Her narrative short ‘Trapped’ was screened at several major film festivals across Asia. Her latest directorial work ‘15 years’ received a Special Mention in the Open Category at the 2024 ifva Awards in Hong Kong and was shortlisted for the Taiwan Competition at the Women Make Waves International Film Festival. Her creative practice explores contemporary social phenomena and human relationships.
As an editor, Chan’s first feature-length project ‘Future Shock-The End of Eternity’ had its world premiere at the 2023 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and was later presented at ART SG and Transmediale in Berlin. Most recently, she served as editing director for ‘The Trio Hall’, which was selected for the Forum section of the 2025 Berlinale.
