Synopsis

After the end of China's ten-year Cultural Revolution (1965–1976), a group of urban youths, whose secondary education had been interrupted by the Cultural Revolution, began entering universities and art schools from the countryside and factories. The Western artistic concepts and the realities of Chinese society that they encountered subsequently had a direct impact on their artistic creations. This film focuses on five contemporary artists living in southwest China, documenting their lives and artistic creations from 1991 to 1993, as well as their reflections on life experiences and artistic thoughts. They later became influential artists both in China and around the world.
